Here are the programs included on the RC2500 diskette ...

RC2500_A.EXE .. This is a communication program designed for use with the RC2500 antenna controller. It is intended primarily for use by software developers or for users troubleshooting or installing a communications link with an RC2500. This program is documented in the file RC2500_A.DOC included on the diskette. To view this file enter BROWSE RC2500_A.DOC at the DOS prompt. The C source code for this program is included on the diskette in the RC2500_A.C file.

ANTENNA.EXE .. This is a satellite antenna pointing solution calculator. The user is prompted to enter the antenna latitude/longitude and the satellite longitude. The program will calculate the true and magnetic azimuth heading and the elevation angle required to intercept the satellite. This program is documented in the file ANTENNA.DOC included on the diskette. To view this file enter BROWSE ANTENNA.DOC at the DOS prompt.

25REM100.DOC .. This file contains a copy of the RC2000C communications protocol in Microsoft Word 6.0 format. It is a copy of what is included in the manual. Use Microsoft Word to view this file.

WINDEMO.EXE .. This is a self-extracting compressed file which contains a demo copy of DownLink Manager, the Windows version of the AutoPilot software. DownLink Manager is a full featured program which controls antenna controllers, satellite receivers, routers, and tape machines. The DownLink Manager software is produced by Broadcast Automation Systems (ph: 905 822-7935, fax: 905 822-9617) and is available from Research Concepts.

To run the demo program it is first necessary to extract the files from the WINDEMO.EXE program and then run the installation program (INSTALL.EXE - which is one of the compressed files) from Windows. The expanded files require approximately 1.3M bytes of free disk space. The expanded files can be placed either on a 3.5" floppy disk or on a sub-directory on the hard disk.

To place the expanded files on the hard disk a sub-directory must first be created. To create a sub-directory named DEMO on the hard disk enter "md c:\demo" at the DOS prompt. To expand the files and place them in the C:\DEMO sub-directory enter "a:windemo c:\demo" at the DOS prompt. This assumes that the diskette containing the WINDEMO.EXE program is in the A: drive.

To execute the INSTALL.EXE program, select File - Run from the Windows Program Manager window. At the prompt for the program name enter "c:\demo\install". This assumes that the expanded files (including the INSTALL.EXE program) are in the C:\DEMO sub-directory. The installation program will prompt the user to create another sub-directory (DLMDEMO) on the hard disk, install the software, and run the program.

After the program is run the files in the sub-directory which contain the expanded files can be erased and the sub-directory removed by using the "rd c:\demo" command to free up disk space.
